Asus ROG Strix RTX 2070 O8G Gaming fan grinding noise
New Member. I'm on my second one now and it's still just buzzing away like crazy. It's far louder than the fans in my computer and it's something I definitely cant deal with. Is this a common issue on these cards or am I just getting unlucky? Well, let's just say it's not 'uncommon. SSC Member. I tried plugging it into a different outlet and got the same result. I put the card in my wife's computer and it does the same thing.
I think it's just an issue with the card, at this point. I have a HZ monitor.Products Phones Laptops Desktops. Aura Intelligent Cooling. Wallpapers Aura Sync Armoury crate.

I'm running a Corsair Ax psu for reference. Dennis L, can you please list all of your components, and what load you are experiencing this buzz please. Have you checked the Nvidia forums for users with similar experience, even though the cards have differences they will be very similar.
Thanks for your response. I experience the buzzing noise during full load. It seems the higher the core frequency, the louder it is. This isn't the high pitch whine that changes sound with fps. My question: is every Rog strix oc like this?

I contacted Corsair, they took into account my request for RMA, they told me that it was a issue known to them and they exchanged the PSU without problem, because they corrected the problem in the factory. At this point, maybe you should try the older BIOS version and let us know. The common thing we have is the Maximus Vii Hero, so I'm thinking it is a mobo issue. I suspect it is the mobo, but I have no way to test it. Page 1 of 2 1 2 Last Jump to page:.The new looks to improve upon last years models with better cooling, and enhanced performance. You have a healthy selection of video out ports at your disposal, including a USB-C port designed to send power and video to VR headsets. Gigabyte did a great just updating the design for the new Gone is the black and orange rounded outer shell from prior years.
The new design is a much more simple matte black and grey square which should allow the card to match a larger variety of cases. One of my issues with last years mini was the lack of a backplate.
Thankfully Gigabyte added one to this years model, and a nice one at that. The included backplate both looks good and seems to actually pull heat off of the card. It has smooth angled edges which make the card look really nice. There are 4 copper heat pipes that make direct contact with the GPU.
The cards cooling block and fins are aluminum. A single 90mm fan is responsible for cooling everything down. For power you will find a single 8-pin connector in the usual location. The rear of the card is wide open. Most of the air will exhausts from the back, with some heading out of the front as well. You can see that the heat pipes run almost from edge to edge on this years mini model.
Overclocking these compact cards is typically more difficult than full sized cards. I was able to push the core clock up to MHz. Anything over that and things quickly became unstable. Do not pick one of these GPUs up if you are looking for a maximum overclock, it is just not designed to do that. The default fan profile does not activate the fan until it hits 55C.
This results in a completely silent card when doing day to day non gaming tasks. Overall I was impressed with the acoustic performance. Luckily you will never get anywhere near that point.
Temperatures on this card were excellent. At idle with the fan off it sat around 43C. I tested the card on a wide variety of games, and it never went over 65C. This is incredible cooling performance for a compact card. The mini exhausts most of its air from the front and back, particularly the back.
This GPU will work best in cases that allow proper airflow to the rear of the card. Power draw is a big concern when building mini-itx systems. Now i'm trying to choose silent at idle or super preferably without fan-stop and exactly not Gigabyte. It would be great if somebody could suggest suitable option. Just got a gigabyte ti. After lots of swapping cards, drivers, and firmware, my troubleshooting finally landed on MSI's Afterburner software. I could repeat the problem, and every time that MSI Afterburner was open, regardless of the setting, profile, or fan curve, I would get random high fan spin-up.
Closing Afterburner had no affect. With Afterburner closed, I would open Device Manager and disable the graphics card. This would settle the fans to idle. I could then enable the graphics card, and the fans would remain idle. If I opened Afterburner, the fans would run up again. But then today, for reasons unknown, it began spinning the fans up to max output while playing these same games. Additionally, I have tried Gigabyte Aorus Engine 1.

Which are the most popular comparisons? General info 1. The thermal design power TDP is the maximum amount of power the cooling system needs to dissipate.
A lower TDP typically means that it consumes less power. A higher transistor count generally indicates a newer, more powerful processor.
Small semiconductors provide better performance and reduced power consumption. Chipsets with a higher number of transistors, semiconductor components of electronic devices, offer more computational power.
A small form factor allows more transistors to fit on a chip, therefore increasing its performance. Newer versions can support more bandwidth and deliver better performance. Is dual-GPU. The graphics card contains two graphics processing units GPUs. This generally results in better performance than a similar, single-GPU graphics card. Has air-water cooling. The graphics card uses a combination of water and air to reduce the temperature of the card.
This allows it to be overclocked more, increasing performance. Performance 1. GPU clock speed. The graphics processing unit GPU has a higher clock speed. Weird thing is the whine goes away if I open up a video youtube, twitch, any video and play it in the background while my game is running. I have already tried swapping cable and also tried with dual cables, same thing. Fixes for coil whine Only works if coils are exposed.

I have the Super XC Ultra and it has loud coil whine under load. Does your card whine similar to my video? I'm trying to identify the cause as the noise from my card is not a high pitched whine but a lower pitched but loud buzzing noise. Update, even with a w Seasonic, the buzzing is the same, so the issue is the gpu. Watched your video.
Mine sounds different. You card makes more of a steady buzz noise, mine makes a higher pitched shrill whine that oscillates tone with the load on the card. EGC Admin. Sometimes it can be fixed by running a stress test loop for hours Superclocked Member.
This issue could be related to the fans, and not the capacitors. When graphics cards produce a lot of heat, usually that heat needs to be transported away from the hot core as fast as possible.
Often you'll see massive active fan solutions that can indeed get rid of the heat, yet all the fans these days make the PC, a noisy son of a gun.
Why is this subjective you ask? Well, there is always noise in the background, from the streets, from the HDD, PSU fan, etc, so this is by a mile or two, an imprecise measurement. You could only achieve objective measurement in a sound test chamber. The human hearing system has different sensitivities at different frequencies.
This means that the perception of noise is not at all equal at every frequency. Noise with significant measured levels in dB at high or low frequencies will not be as annoying as it would be when its energy is concentrated in the middle frequencies. In other words, the measured noise levels in dB will not reflect the actual human perception of the loudness of the noise. That's why we measure the dBA level. A specific circuit is added to the sound level meter to correct its reading in regard to this concept.
This reading is the noise level in dBA. The letter A is added to indicate the correction that was made in the measurement. Frequencies below 1 kHz and above 6 kHz are attenuated, whereas frequencies between 1 kHz and 6 kHz are amplified by the A weighting. Once the card is in a fully stressed status in-game it touches 33 dBA. This is extraordinary silent. Extraordinary especially when you consider this card is heavily factory tweaked.
